I had this on tap at chama river, it was a couple months ago so my memory is a little rusty but i remember it being a very good tasting and enjoyable beer. I'll order it again if I ever go back.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Appearance - Clear pale gold body with thin white lace. No retention. Low stick.

Smell - Slightly floral. Mostly scentless.

Taste - Musky. Grassy. Honey sweet. Well balanced. Light-medium bodied.

Mouthfeel - Smooth frothy body. Slightly drying/solvent. A bit of bite.

Overall Drinkability - Light and refreshing.

Poured on-tap at Chama River Brewing Co, the beer was served in a pint glass. The beer is a crystal clear golden color with no significant head. There are some semi-sweet aromas if you get your nose down in there, but very mild. Sweet and sour initial flavors, with a slight peppery/clove spicing. The brew is very round bodied, and leaves a decent lacing on the glass. You start to get a better feel for the honey characteristics of the beer as it has time to sit a while and warm. Rough overcarbonated feel on the finish, with a somewhat bland aftertaste.

Pours a cloudy yellow color that is nearly opaque. White head that is initially a few fingers high leaves some pretty good lacing. Nose brings some light citrus notes, faint sweetness, and a bit of wheat. The taste is a bit of orange and lemon along with wheat. Good thin mouthfeel with nice carbonation; a pretty drinkable summer brew.

Pour is mildly hazed for an unfiltered wheat and is medium yellow colored. Foam is white and fluffy, not much lacing.

Nose is definitely wildflower honey and tangy wheat. Light graininess also pervades the smell along with a little bit of bubble gum - Bazooka to be exact.

Taste is assuredly American Wheat as opposed to any sort of hefeweizen. Pretty light feeling for a 5.5%'er. Honey is there big time but not overly sweet. Has an ok hop bitterness on the finish and is helped out by plenty of snappy wheat tang. Not bad, but a pretty average American wheat beer.

Another CRBC offering sampled at their sister restaurant in Santa Fe, the Rio Chama Steakhouse. Off tap this beer was a cloudy, processed-honey gold color. The head was an off-white, one-finger cap. The retention was good and it left streaks of lacing as I drank it. The aroma was light but pleasing; semi-sweet floral hops, honey and pale malt well blended. The flavors were very good for the style. Beginning with fresh honey sweetness, the palate was then balanced by dry wheat and then a pale malt finish. Clean, crisp, quaffable. The mouthfeel was smooth, the carbonation delicate and the body medium. A great summer beer and a great food beer too.

I had this on tap at Chama River, Albuquerque. It is a 5.5% ABV beer. It poured a light golden color, and was slightly cloudy. It smelled mainly of sweet fruit - like mandarin oranges. It had a good fruity-blended taste up front, which then becomes more yeasty-pilsner-esque, but then complexes into an overwhelming orange aftertaste. I liked it - great complex smell and flavor.

Aroma: A very inviting mix of light fruits and spices. Fruits toward orange, lemon, grape, spices toward nutmeg

Appearance: Looks just like the Golden Lager, pale clear yellow glass, white head, good lace.

Flavor: Somewhere between an American Wheat and a Wit, hints of coriander and orange peel with a grainy-wheat note.

Mouthfeel: Light body, fairly clean finish

Overall Impression: Very quaffable, a good thirst quencher with enough complexity to make it enjoyable.
