Pretty sure this belongs here, this was bottled in late September 2010, has a label for "High Five Anniversary Ale" A barleywine of 10.5% ABV. 22 oz bomber pours a lightly hazed, medium brown color with a difficult, miniscule tan head. Light strands of lace adorn the glass.
Nose is rich and sweet with tons of toasty, toffee and caramel malts. Tropical alcohol makes itself known and combines with the hops to give off a pineapple aroma.
Taste is big, but decently integrated at this young age, nutty even. Alcohol burn is there and has a burnt sugar sweetness as well. Hops are providing about the right amount of bitterness now. Raisiny fruitiness comes out quite a bit upon warming. Rich and big is the best way to describe this beer, mouthfeel is thick and the beer is definitely warming. Not bad, not bad at all.

2004 Vintage shared from Growler provided by Whaleman (thanks!).
Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, vanilla, cherries, dark fruits, and citrus. Tastes of dark fruits, caramel, vanilla, and citrus. Nice creamy body with the Alcohol very well hidden (as evident with my wicked hang over this morning). Lacing left on the glass. This was one fine beer with the perfect amount of age on it!

Thanks to doppel007 for opening this vintage 2004 barley wine...
Appears a semi-transparent, dark amber with a fluffy, creamy, off-white, 2 finger head. Tons of streaky lacing is left all around the glass.
Smell is of creamy vanilla, rich malt, ripe fruit, brown sugar, caramel, toffee, and light booze.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with some citrusy goodness filling out the enticing flavors of sugary richness.
Mouthfeel is smooth, warming sugar, & near perfect in very ways with a nice drinkability that hides the abv.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub served in a Belgian glass.
A dandy American style Barley Wine with plenty of caramel and chocolate malt flavors that are well balanced by (Im guessing) a blend of NW hops. A blend of citrus, floral, and piney flavors are present. Mouthfeel is medium-full, and there is only a touch of malt sweetness. Pours dark amber with minimal head and lacing, though the carbonation is not moderated.
I am told that this is a revisiting of the 2005 vintage, about a year after initial release. If so, its the same Barley Wine I sampled in March of 2005, and seems to have mellowed somewhat. Give it another year, and the malts might really start to jump.
