On tap. Pours a reddish brown color with no head and no lacing. Nose of chocolate malt, vanilla, and roasted malt. Taste is sweet with chocolate and caramel malt, brown sugar, and a dry, earthy finish. Light body and medium-light carbonation with no aftertaste. Much better cold, as it gets a little metallic on the finish as it warms.
Too sweet and light for me. The saving grace was that the carne adovada had enough spice to balance out the sweetness. The nose is sweet and the taste lines up with the nose.

Had a couple of pints on tap at the Southside location in Santa Fe. This beer impressed me.

The beer arrived with a thin, but frothy head with some sticky lacing around the glass. The liquid was dark brown with red hues and mostly opaque. The head was surprisingly persistent and chewy-looking.

Vanilla and toffee hit my nose immediately and prominently when I gave it a whiff. The beer smelled sweet and almost dessert-like.

Following up on what the nose had hinted at, I got sweet malt, vanilla and toffee at the start and mid-palate. These notes were in addition to the potent dark roasted malt that was very prominent from the start and all along the palate. Closer to the finish, I got some baker's chocolate that lingered and added some tasty complexity and depth.

The beer is alternately sweet, light and dry, yet towards the finish seems a bit thicker and creamier. The beer has a dry finish along with lingering notes of dark roast and baker's chocolate.

Overall, this beer is a delicious and noteworthy brown. I enjoyed.

Off the tap downtown this beer was a deep amber color that was not quite brown with a khaki head. Good retention and moderate lacing. The aroma was weak roasted malt with some sweeter hints of chocolate malt. The flavors however were pretty good, toasted caramel and chocolate malt but not too burnt with some light hoppiness that added balance. The body was medium and the mouthfeel/carbonation average for the style. Nothing great but a good Southwest session brew.

Part of a sampler at the brewery - it's a 5.4% ABV beer. It poured with a deep reddish-brownish color. I couldn't detect too much of an aroma, but it had a nice deep roasted flavor that surprised me because of the lack of smell...and great drinkability.

Dark amber with a decent lace and thin light tan head. The aroma is predominantly light chocolate malt.

Flavor wise, the malt appears as burnt caramel while there is a nice touch of light hop to bring balance. Certainly, this is more malty than hoppy. Moderate body and typical carbonation, the aftertaste dies quickly. Without surprise, malt continues through the entire experience.

Good and drinkable, but fairly unremarkable on a national level, this is still the best (so far) in the Southwestern US.
