similiar to northcoast's old #38....but not quite as tasty. Lots of chocolate of course...pours a moderate head...with below average retention... Very drinkable for a stout....but this is definately thin for the style. Some detectable hops especially early. Almost backwards as it's astringent early and sweet late. Not bad though. I would like to go back and see what else they had to offer...my advice...walk two blocks to barleys...more informed....nicer staff...

From a sampler: This brew pours almost black with a medium thick beige head. Decent lacing. There is a pleasant roasted coffee aroma. Rich for a Dry Stout, with a nice fusion of malt, coffee and hops flavors. The finish is somewhat rich and roasty as well. This is a solid seasonal Stout by Alcatraz.
