On-tap at Alcatraz (Orange)
A: The pour is a clear golden straw color with a white head, about a finger tall.
S: Quite spicy with a nice phenolic profile to it. Slightly peppery with some grassy hop notes and a mild floral quality. Plenty of pale malts and a cracker notes. A mild ester profile of sweet fruits.
T: Pears, banana, and apples along with pale malts provide the sweetness for the beer. A touch bitter for a Belgian beer, but it works out alright. Mild spice notes of white pepper and coriander, along with some floral hops.
M: Medium in body with carbonation on the higher end of medium.
O: Surprisingly good, especially for Alcatraz. Definitely worth having a glass.

Sampled 3/19/2011 at the brewpub. Confusing because this is not a sour beer.
Pours dark yellow, mostly clear, fluffy white head that dissipates but leaves a little lacing.
Aroma is pepper, banana, wheat, and caramel. Interesting that this is both spicy AND fruity.
Flavor is all over the place including banana, bubble gum, black pepper, lots of sugar, candy, malt, and caramel with some booze in the background. Some kind of a cross between an underattenuated Belgian Pale and a Bière de Garde.
Body is medium, good carbonation, drinkable and even enjoyable.
