On-tap at Alcatraz (Orange)
A: The beer is fairly clear and golden with a quickly vanishing white head.
S: God is this sugary. Starts off with pineapple-orange juice and candi sugar. Golden raisins and banana provide a bit of fruit character. A touch of malt, but there's just so much sweetness here it's hard to tell. Luckily a touch of yeast and spice to break up the monotony.
T: More of the pineapple-orange juice character on the tongue. Banana, tangerine, candi sugar, and caramel malts. A touch of grass and straw, and definitely a lot of booze.
M: Medium in body with a low to moderate carbonation.
O: Some of the flavors weren't too bad, but the intense sweetness and booziness was a bit too much.

Sampled 3/19/2011 at the brewpub.
Pours medium golden yellow, mostly clear, 1/2 inch dense white head that quickly turns rocky and starts to fall. Low lacing.
Aroma, whoa, pineapple, big time. Also some malt and banana. Interesting. I wonder if it's hoppy (?).
Flavor is initially all pineapple but that gives way to bubble gum, banana, booze (underlined), sweetness, and a tangy quality that I can only assume(hope) is high alcohol.
Body is medium, not overly drinkable but not terrible either, though not by much.
