Indignant (17.5 Months Woodford Reserve)

Another fantastic version of Indignant! Very dark with a nice dark coffee brown head and a rich smell. Unlike the 22 month-old version, this stuff could really use a little heavier body, and interestingly enough, I found that I liked it best cooler than I typically drink stouts (maybe because it was decently hoppy). I'd still take the 22 month over this every time, but there are not many other BA stouts (non-adjunct) that I'd say that of. It's a shame this stuff probably won't be out every year (I would assume just due to the logistics of aging a 17.5 month old beer), because it would be towards the top of my must-have list. Well done, Haymarket!

Comparing this variant to the 22 month Belle Meade version at Haymarket. I found this one to be lighter on the palate and more subtle. Not as bold as the 22 Belle Meade which I preferred more but regardless, this one is another extremely well made barrel aged variant off of the base beer.

 

Really rich dark stout that carries the bourbon character. Brown sugar, espresso, dark chocolate, vanilla, and caramel all come out during different tastes of this beer. Mouthfeel is on point to handle all of the flavor. ABV still in a good place to allow for an enjoyable drinking experience.

Poured during 5th Anniversary Party as part of a flight of various iterations of Indignant brewed for the special occasion. This version was aged in Woodford Reserve barrels for 17.5 months. 11% ABV. Deep, dark, rich chocolate/coffee roast and bourbon heat. This was my favorite version of the bunch. So smooth!
