a really flavorful and fairly classically styles dark lager here, super well executed in a style where there isnt a lot of space to hide flaws, and a dark beer thats meant to be consumed pint after pint, they did a nice job with this one, simple as it is. it has a bit more grain depth than i am used to here, a touch of spiciness to it, a flash of earthy intensity, a touch of dark fruity sweetness, and a nice medium roasted property to it with a little bitterness on it for balance, almost in the place of hops at the end. i get notes of cola and raisin, as well as brewed drip coffee. there is a smoothness and a lightness about it for how flavorful it is too, which really, for me anyway, is the mark of a good one of these. i like the german yeast in here, but its clean in its work and pretty mild in taste, almost all the flavor here is from the malt. lighter medium body, enough carbonation, and nice as a sipper or a pounder, quite versatile. they always seem to do a nice job with the traditional styles in here.
