Fighting for the rights of ALL people, the Black Wobbly stood for justice and equality. It's also a dark, malty, aromatic Porter brewed with English Chocolate malt and Amarillo hops! Cocoa, orange, coffee, and toffee flavors explode from the glass!!!

Black body, mahoghany glint around the edges, brownish-red with nice clarity when backlit. Retention is good, the tan foam is sticky and long lasting, yielding a crown of intricate lacing that adheres inside the glass.
Very roasty aroma, dominant notes of dark roast coffee and bakers chocolate. Very little if any sweetness detected in the nose.
Dry earthy roast, blackened malt, dark roast coffee again, moderately bitter. Aftertaste of dry bakers chocolate. Medium bodied and easy drinking, a sessionable dry porter with well defined chocolate and coffee elements. Very approachable, an indomitable Porter. Perfect growler candidate.

Thick, dark chocolate appearance; subtle carbonation, inviting effervescence for the style
Smell - Roasted, toffee, steadfast malt aroma with citrus speaking up clearly and harmoniously, hops less predominant
Taste - More lively among porters, excellent citrus blending into coffee and chocolate
Mouthfeel - Well built, smooth but with carbonation just on the right side of viscosity for a porter; not a heavy porter, which I liked
Overall - Great sipping porter that goes down comfortably, I would buy this again if I went back to Haymarket

A - Dark, dark brown beer with a tan head that had some nice retention and lacing. A good looking brew.
S - Smell is a lot of roast, with chocolate and smoke as the primary aromas. Little burnt malts and coffee in there. Smells very nice.
T - Lots of smoke, and unexpected heft for something that is 6.6%. Very full flavor with chocolate, roasted malts, and that great smoke taste.
M - Creamy, full, drinks much bigger than the ABV would suggest. Good carbonation.
O - One of the best Haymarket beers I've had as of yet, and probably one of their best period. Recommended.

On-tap at the pub before heading to the NCAA Tourney games... My favorite Haymarket beer to date... Pours dark brown with a hint of amber on the fringe. A nice tan head, very creamy with great retention and super sticky lacing... The aroma is roasted chocolate with a touch of vanilla and some nice muted smoke, and a hint of cocoa nibs... The taste has lots of roasted chocolate, super smooth with a light dry mouthfeel. Very easy to drink, I'd gladly have again.

Served in a 12oz goblet at Haymarket 3/15/11. Thanks to pops for the assist!
A: Served deep dark black with just a minimum of light getting through. Head height is also at a minimum, reaching just under a finger thick before melting down to a thick ring and chunky skim.
S: Awesome nose on this one. Blackened chocolate malt, medium roast coffee, molassas, and a bunch of Amarillo.
T: See above with less of an emphasis on the hops and coffee, and more of an emphasis on the earthy, roasty malt and toffee and molassas flavors.
M: Relatively smooth with a nice bit of spikiness from the hops and dry, roasty malt. Finish is long lasting.
D: Exactly as advertised. A nice robust Porter.
