Full disclosure: this DIPA sits next to fresh Double Trouble, Arctic Panzer Wolf, and Port Mongo; there are some long shadows cast upon it. It pours a golden-orange hue and is capped with a big ecru head; lacing ensues. The nose is a winner; aromas of tangerine, various citrus and cannabis are fairly potent, and are continued in the flavor. There is a sweet maltiness underlying, reminiscent of jaggery, in both flavor and aroma. This is a light-bodied DIPA, more likely to be mis-classified as Pale Ale than Barleywine, and that is just fine for me. Enjoyable overall, though (unsurpisingly) not quite in the same league as the three beers mentioned at the top.

A - Amber orange color with a decent amount of white head. Great webs of fat lacing on the sides make for a nice looking beer.
S - Smells slightly more dank than I was expecting from amarillo. Nice hop profile with decent citrus, little bit of dank smell that gives this a bit of a heavier aroma.
T - Citrus and tropical fruit flavored hop profile woth some pale malt, tough of honey, and a finish that is a little wetter than expected. Tastes pretty good, wish it were cleaner and smoother.
M - Medium bodied, active carbonation.
O - Good beer, relatively easy to drink, with nice flavor. Would drink again.

On-tap at Haymarket. Served in a 4oz taster glass.
A - Finger of lightly orange-tinged foam that settles to a thick ring, and spotty lacework. Transparent golden body.
S - Big amarillo hop nose, with citrus, leafy herbs, and a touch of dank cheesy aroma as well. Malt character is evocative of icing sugar and/or cookies.
T - Taste us a tad less enjoyable. The icing sugar malt emerges more substantially and there's a slight astringent note in the finish that mingles with medium-high residual bitterness. A bit of homer bias results in rounding up here, but this is more of a 3.75.
M - Sticky and resinous. Medium-full body, pleasant medium carbonation. No overt alcohol flavor, but perhaps a bit of warmth in the back end.
D - I liked this one enough to order a second pour. Not as good as Mathias, but definitely one of Haymarket's stronger offerings. A solid, easy-drinking DIPA that is worth having if you're in the neighborhood.
