On-tap at Haymarket. 4oz taster glass.
A - Served with a finger of white foam that settles to a thin cap and thicker collar, but leaves only a few splotches of lace. Transparent copper color.
S - Smell is a combination of earthy marijuana, lemons, and grapefruits. There's a minimal bready malt character in the background.
T - Taste is again heavy on the earthy and dank notes, with some lemon citrus flavor as well. Very low in sweetness, with some astringency in the finish. Lingering bitter aftertaste rounds things out.
M - Pleasant moderate carbonation, medium body, no obvious alcohol. Not particularly dry or resinous.
D - This seems like a very European DIPA, with the heavy emphasis on Amarillo. It'd be a big hit in the Netherlands I'm sure. That being said, it's a fairly significant step down from something like Mathias.

Draft at the brewpub. Standard but nice DIPA appearance, a clear medium amber topped by a thin white head. Pretty resiny nose, marijuana and herbs, some earthiness and caramel malt. Decent, somewhat muted. Palate is nice, however. More weedy, earthy hop flavors at the forefront, somewhere between an east coast and a European IPA. Some orange marmalade sweetness and grapefruit toward the backend. Biting, somewhat astringent bitterness in the finish. Solid stuff but unspectacular.
