This dark malty ale is brewed with loads of English Chocolate malt, a touch of dark crystal and a hefty amount of Amarillo hops - creating a complex and delicious ale with hints of chocolate covered mandarin oranges. Shoeless Joe and Judge Landis would agree on this one!

Poured from tap at haymarket. Pours a dark brown color with a foamy head.
Quite pungent with good complexity and aromas of roasted espresso beans, malts, chocolate, and some toffee tones as well.
Full bodied with a real smooth feel. Very good depth as well with some power behind it and flavors of roasted malts, coffee beans, chocolate and there is even a citrus hint on the back end.
This is a real quality porter. The citrus on the feel caught me a little surprised, but it was more in a good way than bad. This is one of the better beers I've had from haymarket.

The black sox was a solid coffee flavored porter. There were hints of chocolate and earth, but coffee seemed to dominate. The color was dark with ecru head. The smell had earth and coffee. The body was medium with mild carbonation. Overall....it was very tastee.
