The Preception IPA was my least favorite of the IPAs available at the Haymarket (other two were Annihilator and 7GA). The beer poured a clear copper....looked alot like the others. Creamy white head that laced. The smell was weak bitter citrus and pine. The taste was bland...not much going on...some hop balanced by malt. Mouthfeel was ok, medium to light....it would be a decent session ale...mild ABV. Overall it was ok...nothing to rave about.

On-tap at Haymarket. Served in a 4oz taster glass.
A - Transparent bronze body. Half-finger of white foam settles to a partial cap and thick collar, leaving a few stray splotches of lace.
S - Pine, zesty citrus - very grapefruit-forward, slight cat pee, perhaps a bit of herbal character as it warms up. Malt character is mostly sugary.
T - Taste is a bit more mellow, with mostly citrus hop flavors and a doughy malt backbone. Low bitterness in the finish.
M - Moderate carbonation, medium body, chewy texture, and a dry, resinous finish.
D - It's easy to drink in large quantities - I ended up getting a 12oz pour once I worked through my various tasters. I enjoyed the malt character better than many of Haymarket's other IPAs, as it didn't have the icing sugar flavor. Somewhere in the middle of the pack though.
