To celebrate the life and work of the great Chicago poet Carl Sandburg, we named this Belgian IPA after his most famous poem, which celebrated the hard working folks who made our city the greatest on Earth. It's brewed with Warrior and Chinook, and dry-hopped with Warrior and Cascade alongside only the finest Belgian ale yeast. Happy Birthday, Carl!

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Perhaps the best beer I enjoyed here tonight. Very drinkable, solid orange flavour. Very lacey. A slight funky aroma. Spice, a solid effort. Above average mouthfeel.Sweetness to encourage drinking, but enough hop to make it interesting.

had on tap at haymarket. Poured a rich orange color with a very foamy head.
Extremely good aromas of citrus', oranges, creams, and spice aromas. Very good depth with a lot of balance as well
Full bodied with good a very good feel and flavors of creams, spices and oranges. Lacking a slight bit on the flavors.
This was a delicious belgian ipa. Well balanced with real good depth in the aromas but just slightly less with the flavors.

On-tap for d0b's birthday gathering. Served in a 12oz tulip.
A - A thin white foam settles to a thick collar, some wisps, and a few splotches of lace. Hazy peach flesh body.
S - Stone fruits, orange citrus hops, Belgian yeast, lightly phenolic. I dig the hop-forward aroma, although the Belgian yeast gets a bit overbearing as the beer warms up. Still, one of the better Belgian IPAs I've had recently.
T - Taste is unfortunately not quite as good. It's full of juicy stone fruits mid-palate, but suffers from a strange medicinal and lightly astringent finish. Not much hop bitterness, and definitely more of the yeasty and bread Belgian character.
M - Medium body, slightly grain texture, bready and yeasty, with a bit of juiciness in the finish. Moderate-to-low carbonation, and no obvious alcohol.
D - This is pretty hop-forward in the aroma, but unfortunately it doesn't translate to the taste all that well. Still, it's one of the most effective hoppy Belgians I've had from Haymarket, with the aroma striking the desired balance between the two disparate elements. I'd have this one again, but probably wouldn't order two in a night.
