Gravity cask at Fountainhead. Served in a tulip.
A - Transparent amber body capped by a thick collar, that settles to wisps and splotchy lace. Oddly clear for a cask beer, but otherwise pretty attractive.
S - Holy orange zest Batman! Someone must have zested a ton of oranges, because the citrus rind flavor overwhelms what is already a pretty pungent beer. Plenty of Citra hops balanced by brown sugar malts - everything you know and love about Mathias. The combo of malts and orange zest reminds me a little of Orange Pancakes.
T - The orange zest isn't quite as dominant in the flavor, but still works in conjunction with the juicy Citra hop flavors. Tastes a lot like Mathias, but that's a good thing. Perhaps a touch of alcohol.
M - Enamel-coating hop resins, chewy full body, low carbonation, and some warming alcohol.
D - The orange peel gets increasingly bitter, and when combined with the high alcohol it gets a bit fatiguing. Best enjoyed in small quantities, but ultimately quite enjoyable. Still, I'd probably take the regular version if given the choice.
