On-tap at Haymarket. Numerous 4oz taster glasses consumed.
A - White foam settles to a thin cap and thick collar, leaving behind splotchy lace. Hazy yellow-orange body. Looks nicer than the base beer, as it's nowhere near as sludgy.
S - Phenolic Belgian yeast, wheat, raspberry, and perhaps a bit of spice. The fruit character is more integrated than in the Cranberry Saison, as you can definitely tell this is some sort of wheat ale.
T - A nice mix of wheat, coriander, and slightly under-ripe raspberry flesh. Hard to say more here: a Witbier with raspberries.
M - Tannic and grainy texture, medium in body, with pleasant moderate carbonation. No alcohol and a lightly dry finish.
D - I thought this could have used more raspberries. That being said, I liked it more than the base beer, although I'm not sure if that's due to the raspberries blunting some of the coriander or because they tweaked the base beer's recipe since mid-2011. In any case, worth trying but somewhere down my list of the new offerings.
