Brewed in honor of the upcoming union of Pete's brother-in-law Pat and the love of his life Rachel. This Belgian farmhouse ale was brewed with pilsen malt, yeast from one of Belgium's oldest Saison producers, and 450 pounds of fresh Michigan strawberries. In order to get used to a long and tedious marriage, Pat and Rachel spent two full days cleaning and chopping over 4,000 fresh berries!

On-tap at Haymarket. Served in a 4oz taster glass.
A - White foam quickly settles to a thin cap, thicker collar, and no lace. Pale transparent straw body; definitely filtered.
S - Plenty of strawberry in the aroma, with some fruity Belgian esters and slightly spicy farmhouse yeast rounding out the bouquet. The yeast character has a bit of funk to it, but I doubt there's any wild yeast at work. Quite nice and potent.
T - The taste is a bit more restrained fruit-wise, with more of the base beer's peppery and slightly phenolic Belgian yeast, a touch of lemony hop, and unmalted wheat. Strawberry is more potent in the finish and the aftertaste.
M - Zesty carbonation, dry and lightly tannic texture, medium-light bodied, crisp finish, and some mild residual sugary stickiness.
D - This was quite nice. A well-made strawberry beer, which is a rarity. I'd definitely order this again and likely in a larger format.

Served in a chalice at the brewpub.
Bachelor Party-Palooza 2013 continues at Haymarket, working on a beer that only has a Had to its credit. Come on, people! Anyway, this stuff pours a hazy straw topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises mild wheat, honey, and a vague sense of wild strawberries. The taste brings in more of the same, with a wetter bit of wheat, a spicier yeast, and a slightly stronger sense of strawberry. That said, the strawberry is still a background character compared to the almost wit-like saison flavor. The body is a hefty light, with a light moderate carbonation and a wet feel. Overall, a nice little flavored saison, but not one I would likely order very often in the future.
