This brainchild of our brewers, Steve and David, is a big IPA brewed with Munich, carafa, and rye malts, then hopped with Cascade, and dry-hopped with 2 lbs per barrel of Simcoe. Dark, malty, strong, and complex with a huge hop aroma.

On-tap at Haymarket. Served in 4oz taster glass.
A - Dark brown body with some transparency at the edges of the glass. Tan foam settles to a thin cap, leaving behind glass-coating lace.
S - Spicy rye dominates, with some roasted malt and light smokiness. Hops are understated, with notes of citrus peel, tropical fruit, and a bit of earthiness in the periphery. IPA seems more like a misnomer; more of a rye beer.
T - While the aroma was solid, the taste was extremely unpleasant. A mixture of black malt astringency, spicy rye, and hop bitterness that is quite fatiguing and unbalanced. Loses all the sweet and fruity notes from the aroma. Rough, and actually hard to finish, which is a rarity for a Haymarket taster.
M - Dry, medium body, moderate carbonation, lingering hop oils and resins in the finish. A bit of alcohol warming, but nothing excessive for 7.5%.
D - Not a fan of this one. It's all the things I dislike about black IPAs, with some spicy rye aggravating matters. Would not order this one again; will only appeal to select palates, and mine isn't one of them.
