This beer is only available at Barley's Taproom in Asheville. The waiter told us that it was made for the promotion of stouts this month. It was a very deep black color with a creamy tan head. The smell was of oatmeal. The taste revealed a hint of the whiskey barrels it was aged in. A lot of times a beer marketed as whiskey barrel aged will come up short but this one delivered big time. The mouthfeel uncovered some of the alcohol taste. A smoothness not often found in this type of beer. I could have drank more but it was snowing and I was driving. I am glad the one beer I picked to go with dinner was this one. I would love to have it again but it looks as if it will be retired.
