Had on tap. Murky dark brown body with a mushroom colored finger of foam. Smell and taste are the same: maltier for style but has a nice earthy roast met by dark fruit and semisweet chocolate. Taste has more depth though. Feel is malty, smooth, sneaky frothy and creamy. Went great with bbq nachos

On tap at the Charlotte taproom. Black hue. Mild lacing. Zero head. Smell is heavy roasted malts. Flavor is the same. Roasted malts with some sweetness to the front end. Medium bodied. Overall, this was the best thing I had that day. This is an underrated style of beer, in my opinion, and this was a very good example of a Schwarzbier.
