Came here for the first time for the Fresh Hop
Pop Up Fest which got shut down promptly after my arrival due to improper licensing, so it was off to a rocky start for me. So naturally, we went inside and the first two beers I ordered off the menu were out. No worries... Got their Alt Star and then their Festbier which were decent, though they arrived later than everyone else's drinks. Pulled pork sandwich was good. The place itself was awesome, people were friendly enough, but there are so many great places in Portland and this one just didn't leave a great impression on me. I'd like to go back for a second chance, so maybe I'll see you again soon Burnside. Cheers!

Opened in 2010, Burnside Brewing is located in a large modern building in a small strip mall on the other side of the river. It is right on the bus lines and near the streetcar, so it is easy to get to. It's a large building with a bar, a busy patio and a scattering of tables. I grabbed a hightop adjacent to the window. Excellent service as well. On tap are about 17 taps, which offer a worthwhile array of styles. During my lunchtime visit, I enjoyed their Isomer IPA, a crisp lager and a porter. The food was delicious; I recommend the schnitzel sandwich. Would have liked to hang out a little while longer, but this is Portland and I had to get to the next stop.

what an enjoyable experience! tucked away in a more or less residential area, this is a cozy little neighborhood gastro brewery, with some really cool beer and delicious food. smaller inside, but they have a large picnic table patio set up on the side with plenty of seating, hops growing tall, and a cozy garden vibe out there. they had a decent lineup of beers covering a range of styles, but the india red ale was my favorite of the ones we had hands down, oozing hops with a nice toasty malt backbone, it really was fantastic. we dug the sweet heat too, with scotch bonnet peppers. we only shared one appetizer, a spicy cauliflower, and it was incredible. inventive and flavorful, fresh and spicy, we loved it. the other food leaving the kitchen looked rockstar as well. our service was exceptional, friendly and chatty, helpful with our trip planning, and just a woman with a genuinely happy disposition. an extremely comfortable place to sit outside and slug back a couple of beers. one of the best vibes of any brewery we visited in oregon on our trip...

Went here with my girlfriend for a few drinks before New Year's Eve festivities. A few drinks turned into a full sampler of their menu but it was WELL worth it, especially at the price! A very modern and simple feel, with the walls displaying various local art and memorabilia. Big TVs on the wall you could see from any angle and plenty of natural daylight pouring in. The staff was quick and courteous and offered suggestions based on what we liked and didn't like. Despite not having had many Burnside beers previously, we really liked it! Their seasonal selections especially were fantastic. Sweet Heat and The Duke of Earl Grey stood out the most as unique and tasty brews. Oh, and having your own parking lot is clutch!

Pretty good spot that we checked out for dinner on the first night of a recent PDX trip.
Vibe is pretty simple inside, low key with not a ton of decorations. Was busy and fairly loud too.
Quality is in general is good. I had a hoppy Pale Ale with dinner that was a solid B. I've tried others in the past that have been tasty as well.
Our service was decent. Slightly slow, but generally pleasant.
Selection was the standard lineup, and a handful of one offs.
Food was quite good, one of the better brewery meals I've had in sometime.
All in all? Pretty nice place, glad I checked it out. You can probably visit a few better places, but easily could do worse.

Great vibe ad unique crowd. Very diverse mix of people all there to enjoy some brews. I went about 4/5 in the afternoon. I ate the Cohiba. Excellent!! First time eating bacon ash. Bartender was attentive and ad some good conversation with a fellow bar mate. Great selection of beers.

Beers ranging from 3/5 to 5/5, with some unique offerings. Adult food offerings are too expensive for what is delivered, though the kids menu offerings are reasonable and more than sufficient.

Went here the other day for beers. I had been putting off going to this place for quite some time, I've had their beers in bottles many times and their beers are pretty lackluster compared to the competition in PDX. We were going to grab something to eat as well but there was really not 1 thing on the menu that sounded good at all. They have a bunch of crazy wierd sounding stuff: Duck confit, Burger seared in duck fat, warm lentil salad....how about just some normal food please how hard would that be? We just did a beer flight, which some of the beers were ok but mostly blah. Went somewhere else for food. Probably my least favorite brewery in PDX

In its 1.5 years+ in existence we've visited Burnside probably a half dozen times, often for happy hour, but occasionally for dinner. The location is easy to reach from downtown, a recessed corner space at E Burnside and 7th, mere blocks from the Burnside Bridge. There's a well-landscaped fringe around an asphalt parking lot (outdoor picnic tables in nice weather) and separate entrances for the restaurant and brewery. Inside is spacious but fairly spartan, with an 'open' kitchen and a dozen-seat bar, tall ceilings, concrete floors.
For its first few months, Burnside turned off my wife simply because they have an arguably-sexist logo, a crawling female silhouette (think big rig mud flaps) with a forked tail and stein in hand. Then one summer night (post happy hour) she was convinced to go and we've BOTH loved the place ever since (she has since overcome her aversion to the logo...).
Beers are generally good to very good... to very VERY good; I'm a big fan of the Stock Ale and Sweet Heat (apricots and scotch bonnet peppers on a wheat ale base). On our most recent visit (Friday night), there were a number of new beers, including: Thundarr the Bavarian (weizenbock?), Lime Kolsch (delicious and refreshing on a 100-degree day), Smokey the Beer (smoked London Porter) and Big Chewy Red (brewed with chocolate malt and Fuggle hops). Perhaps my favorite ---and most interesting--- was 'International Incident' (formerly 'Kali-Ma') - which is sort of an imperialized version of 'Sweet Heat' but with fenugreek, cardamom & cumin added. Trust me, it's delicious!
As good as the small but diverse beer menu is, food is even better. On every visit, we've been impressed by both the menu 'standards' and specials. I love the 'Cohiba Cigar' as an app (duck confit and cracklins, wrapped in collard greens), but burgers and sandwiches are terrific across the board. On this night, the special was the 'Ridiculous Burger', a $26(!!!) feast of stacked meat and decadence that included lobster, pork belly and fried plantains that was a bit too rich for us but certainly sounded amazing.
Service was friendly and attentive outside for our late-arriving group of 6, fine with splitting checks (sensibly pre-divided according to where we sat). On other visits, typically sitting at the bar, service has been good as well, chatty and sometimes liberal with the tasting samples.
All in all, one of the better brewpubs in all of Portland --- one that *could* fall between the cracks, but shouldn't...
