Imported from my ratebeer.com profile - FEB 17, 2008

Had this on tap at the Coronado Brewing Company.

Pours a hazy, light golden color with particles, very small head. Smells like citrus, cloves and wheat. Tastes pretty much the same... wheat, citrus, slightly bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light and kind of creamy, probably from the unfiltered yeast particles. It’s not bad, but doesn’t really distinguish itself from other beers of this variety.

Looks: pale wheat in color, like a slightly hazy light lager. A tiny white head recedes to a sudsy ring after a few minutes.

Smells: like Swedish fish. Light cloves, with cinnamon, coriander and sugary caramel.

Tastes: like the smell, but subdued. Spicy orange and coriander flavors mix with a balanced graininess. The flavors seem more akin to a Belgian wit than hefeweizen.

Feels: runny. High carbonation and a little light in body.

Drinks: like an average hefeweizen, even if we are categorizing this as a hef. I have my doubts we should.

On tap at the Coronado Brew Pub. What do you think they did - served it with a lemon slice!

Poured a hazy, pale golden color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of lemons (hmmm, I wonder from what) and lighter spices. Tastes of citrus (well, lemons of course), lighter spices and lighter wheat. Fizzy body.

Unimpressed. This an American Wheat doing a very bad imitation of a German Hefe. Pours cloudy gold with a good white head. Aroma is all wheat. Flavor is all wheat. I finally submitted and dropped the lemon in halfway through to give it some flavor. No banana, no yeast, no way I'm getting this again.

Hazy pineapple-honey body with tight soapy head and decent seam. Not too much visible carbonation.

Almost a mild Pilsener scent with zesty tones.

Deep and full taste on front end for hefe - nice yeast and wheat electricity with full malt and spice palate - runs out of gas a little with warmth though and mostly zest keeps on keepin' on.

Full finish with slight bitter piney hop kick on back end with a little pith in there.

80 degrees and sunny? Could work with this for a while.

On tap at CBC. This didn't look at all like a hefeweizen - it poured a fairly clear amber color, with a very thin head. Any aroma that may have been there was killed by the lemon they served it with. Light in taste - no typical hefe flavors or aromas. This reminded me more of an amber lager than a hefe.

Part of a 9 beer sampler set

Standard yellow, hazy brew. Minimal white head in the 4oz glass. Smell was pretty faint, with just the hint of fruit and banana. Taste was also very faint, with just the hint of banana and spice, some wheat feel. No hop bitterness detected. Light and drinkable. Fits the style but I wanted more flavor and definitely more in the nose.

This Hefe has a cloudy light amber body with a nice puffy off-white head. The head lasts for awhile and produces decent lace effect. The nose is mostly of yeast with some hints of the malt base. The flavor is mostly of a bready/yeasty nature with easy drinkability. The body is fairly light with a bit if a watery feel.
