Like the San Diego shorebird flying in and out of the waves, you too will keep coming back for more of this hardy winter IPA. Medium-bodied and slightly red in color from the use of caramel malts, this IPA is filled with bright pine and citrus notes, balanced by a firm malt backbone.

Nice IPA with citrus and pine notes. A little maltier of a backbone than normal for a California IPA. Hint of chocolate on the finish. A good IPA, but I don’t see what it has to do with winter.

Pours a deep bronze color from the growler,a thick off white head atop.Big brown sugar and caramel malt aromas over top of pine resin, like an old school hoppy red.Citric and piney hops really hit home up front with brown sugar and mild roast coming in late, again more like a hoppy red to me.I like this beer but it's not an IPA to me,it drink's well and nothing makes it unappetizing by any means.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/7/2016. Pours lightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, toffee, chocolate, cocoa, and floral/grassy/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and dark/bready/light roasted malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, toffee, chocolate, cocoa, and floral/grassy/toasted earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/cocoa, and floral/grassy/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and dark/bready/light roasted malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and lightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is very nice Red/Brown IPA style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and dark/bready/light roasted malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modest bitterness. Pretty juicy on hops with a nice malt backbone that never feels sweet. A very enjoyable offering.

Rubyesque amber with a thick fluffy tan head that left dots and streaks of lacing.
Mild notes of grapefruit and pine on the nose and palate. Hint of caramel toffee.
Medium carbonation, mouthfeel and bitterness. Slightly zesty finish.
Could have used a stronger hop profile and bolder mouthfeel, but tasty nonetheless.
