This one showed up at Trader Joes in San Diego. Poured from the 22 oz bottle. Beautiful big foam and dark coppery color in the PIraat tulip. Brewer says this is made with Denali and experimental #07277 hops. Intriguing aroma of pine bark and apricots. Spritzy on the tongue.
Robust brew with big flavors. Some lime peel and a dark, woody grilled peach taste. Fairly sweet like a DIPA. Not terribly bitter, but a sharp finish with that dark hoppy flavor. More interesting than typical Red Ales, but it follows in the usual mode of gummy malt flavors with resiny hops piled on.
