Our 2019 ART SERIES has evolved to feature photography submitted by our Instagram fans. The first winner our contest is Anthony Drake, a southern California-based outdoor and lifestyle photographer. Anthony’s stunning photo of the night sky over the beach is the inspiration for “Cosmic Ocean”.
Cosmic Ocean is a single-hop Brut IPA. Mosaic hops give the beer bright grapefruit and pineapple notes bolstered by a slight coconut flavor from the addition of toasted rice flakes. True to brut fashion, Cosmic Ocean finishes bone dry, with an effervescent and refreshing finish.
Cosmic Ocean is the first in series of four beers in the 2019 Art Series. We’re proud to be supporting emerging artists whose roots perfectly align with our stay coastal lifestyle.
Food Pairings: Cheese Steak, Flat Iron, Jambalaya Pasta

Clear golden brew with big sudsy white foam in the thistle glass. Mouthfeel is lush and creamy. Aroma is citrus, alfalfa, and damp hay. Rather sharp on the tongue with a bitter edge. Flavors of green beans, lemon peel, and touch of passion fruit. Sparkly and in the Brut style with that astringent aftertaste. But quite decent and thirst-slaking From the 16 oz can purchased at Barons Market.

Appearance - Pours a clear gold with four fingers of frothy bubbly white head.
Smell - citrus, tropical, piney, leafy, earthy, and floral hops, bready malts, caramel, grapefruit, orange and citrus peel, hint of pine resin, and earthy yeast.
Taste - citrus, tropical, piney, leafy, earthy, and floral hops upfront. The bready malts, caramel, grapefruit, orange and citrus peel, hint of pine resin follow suit. The earthy yeast finishes the brew off.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes smooth with the hops and fruits lingering.
Overall - A pleasant Brut IPA that is highly flavourful. The artwork on the can reminds me of many different spots in Vancouver Island at sunset.

Poured from a 1 pint can. Canned on 03/12/2019.
A: Pours a clear light gold with a very thick white head, nice lacing, very bubbly.
S: A wet hay nose, must come with the style.
T; Super dry from the start , mild on the hops, the finish is super dry though.
F: light body with lots of carbonation. Again the finish is dry.
O: I have had a few Bruts now i like them, this one i like.

Part of the brewery's art series, Cosmic Ocean features a wrap-around photograph by Anthony Drake on its 16-ounce can. The pale gold color with brilliant clarity and a fluffy white head puts this beer on solid footing in terms of appearance. And the aroma is definitely expressive: pungent grapefruit and lime zest, subtle white grape, white pine, and crackery malt greet the nose, inviting a sip. A deeper resinous quality and a whiff of solventy alcohol also emerge as the liquid warms in the glass. In terms of mouthfeel, this Brut IPA meets style expectations with a light body and a drying finish with lingering bitterness. The taste is somewhat hollow, however. On the palate, lemon-limey citrus combines with an intense pine flavor with a passing note of green pepper. It works, but I'm not sure if I'd reach for another right away. A drinkable, admirable interpretation, even if it isn't quite irresistible.
