Our 2019 ART SERIES has evolved to feature photography submitted by our Instagram fans. The fourth winner of our contest is Wyland Szabo, an Oceanside-based aerial photographer. Szabo’s aerial shot of multi-colored surfboards in the water was the inspiration for “Mango Sprinkles”.
Mango Sprinkles Hazy IPA is a playful twist on the popular haze craze. The brewers started with a hazy IPA recipe and upped the ante with fresh mango puree. The beer is then fermented with a centuries-old strain of Norwegian farmhouse ale yeast, called Kveik (Norwegian for yeast). This yeast strain imparts esters of lime and citrus, to perfectly complement the mango and hop character.
Mango Sprinkles Hazy IPA is the fourth in series of four beers in the 2019 Art Series. We’re proud to be supporting emerging artists whose roots perfectly align with our stay coastal lifestyle.
Food Pairings: Coronado Cob Salad, Baja Bacon Burger, Carne Asada Steak Tacos

1 PINT can
Served in a stemless wine glass
This beer pours a turbid orange yellow color. It is topped with a couple inches of tan head that leaves spotty lacing.
The smell is citrus and tropical fruit.
The taste is just like the smell. I get tropical fruit with a little more focus on citrus. I get some grapefruit and a little pine in the finish.
Medium bodied with an effervescent mouthfeel
This is a really good beer especially considering how old it is. Canned in November.

Appearance - Pours a hazy apricot with four fingers of frothy white head that leaves some cloud-like lace on the glass.
Smell - citrus and tropical hops, mango, peach, papaya, citrus and orange peel, lime, bready malts, and earthy tropical yeast.
Taste - citrus and tropical hops upfront. Bold notes of mango, lime, peach, papaya, citrus and orange peel follow suit. The bready malts and earthy tropical yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the tropical notes lingering including the mango and lime.
Overall - A bold and flavourful New England IPA. I like the addition of the lime as it adds a nice tangy and zippy characteristic to the brew.

I got a can of this beer from the beer store just around the corner. It poured a hazy orangish with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had tropical fruit notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with mango fruit flare. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.
