Had the opportunity to experience this on tap at the Coronado during SDBW 2011.
A - Pours a dark river water color, fairly opaque, light creamy caramel colored head. Looks thick and frothy.
S - The most unique brown ale I've ever smelled! Big bourbon aroma with smokiness, caramel, and toasted malt.
T - Matches my nose as one of the most unique browns I've ever encountered. Big and complex is the best way to describe it. Toasted caramel smoky malt greets the tongue before rolling waves of bourbon and mild vanilla set in. The smoke flavor briefly resurfaces right at the end as well. Leaves a lingering bourbon, vanilla, toasted caramel aftertaste with some piney bitter bite.
M - Big body, semi-heavy, sticky.
O - I am NOT a fan of this style but this is the most unique brown ale I've ever had and peaks my interest in the style (As long as they are aged this way!).

On tap at barrel blast
A: poured a dark chocolate brown in color with yellow highlightsa when held up to the light and had a little head leaving a little bit of lacing sticking to the glass.
S: huge smokey character in the aroma but was able to sniff out sweet malts, caramel, charcoal, and weird palstic notes.
T: the smokey character also dominated the palate but did have some sweet caramel malts coming through alongside brown sugar, toffee, and char accents.
M: the brew was medium in body with a good amount of carbonation which had a huge smokey, sweet, and sticky finish.
D: it was drinking quite well and was very tasty. I like my smoke beers and this one was no exception.

Wasn't Coronado's 13th LAST year? Well, I found this on-tap at 38 Degrees, so better late than never. On to the beer:
Really dark chocolate brown in color, not a lot of head sticks around, but the color is unique to my eyes. It smells like a good mix of brown ale and rauchbier; cured bacon, toffee, and fudge. Interesting and yum.
Copy step 2 and paste it again as step 3. The flavor has cured bacon, fudge, and toffee. The smoky flavor battle with the sweet malts all the way through and into the smoky-sweet aftertaste.
It worked. Pleasing to the tastebuds without going out of balance.
