Coronado Brewing and Pizza Port have come together for an epic collaboration between two of San Diego’s original breweries. “El Rollo” is a quintessential West Coast IPA, celebrating the style that the two brewers have helped progress over the last three decades.
This crisp and refreshing beer is brewed with a blend of Simcoe, Chinook, and Columbus Cryo hops. Simcoe and Chinook lend fruity and earthy notes with a hint of pine and bright grapefruit. It’s rounded out by the Columbus Cryo, providing massive hop character while maintaining a clean, clear finish.

16oz can, served in a shaker pint glass. Date stamp on bottom of can: 02/13/2024 #5348.
Appearance: Partly clear golden yellow with a thin white head and plenty of persistent lacing.
Smell: Pine and grapefruit. A bit muted.
Taste: Pine and muted grapefruit/citrus up front, some bready malt, and then a similar finish that has a bit of honey to it. Bitterness is mild.
Mouthfeel: Good carbonation, good thickness, sticky on the teeth.
Overall / Drinkability: Given its age, I'm not surprised this one is pretty mild in hops. The bitterness builds up over the sip, as you would expect with an west coast style IPA, but that's about all this one has going for it. Need to see if I can find it fresh.

Clear golden amber brew with abundant foam in the Bacchus tumbler. Lovely aroma of green fruit, green grapes, and straw. Not sweet and not dry with a pleasant base of malt. Tastes of green melon, a squirt of orange, and a touch of papaya. Clean and crisp fruity flavors with a moderate bitter aftertaste.
Classic West Coast doped up with hops, but manages to be both drinkable and delicious. They should send this to Hop Butcher for the World to get a better idea how to use hops. From the 16 oz can purchased at O'Shea Brewing. Can't quite read the 2024 month. Body boarders on the label!

Pours and effervescent gold with nice brightness and a thumb of eggshell colored head.
S: Oranges; hints of coconut and pineapple
T: Follows the nose, dryness and Kiwi Fruit up front. Dryness, green melon and tangerine as this beer warms up, grassy notes as well. Finishes with pomelo, little lemon, grassiness and Kiwi Fruit
MF; Medium body with low carbonation. Carbonation picks up once warm, good balance
Solid IPA, had higher hopes for this one. Pizza Port usually delivers. Drinkable, but not memorable

Canned 3/5/24. Poured into a modified perfect pint with carb initiation grid on 4/3/24. Beautiful amber color, crystal vlear, thin but very dense creamy head and a good amount of lacing. Not a lot of smell but the flavor is a nicely balanced combination of bitterness and citrus skins (a hint of orange). Clean finish. Perhaps not the intense bitterness of a classic WCIPA,?but a very nice alternative to a hazy and a good representation of an American IPA
