The aroma is mostly pleasing yet suggests some flavor deficiencies. Fortunately, this is misleading, as the flavor is better than the aroma suggests.
Murky brown body with a decent head.

On tap at Coronado Brewing. This is the base for the Brandy Barleywine.
A: Golden orange with good clarity and an inch of white foam.
S: Candied citrus, redolent of orange and grapefruit. Toffee blends with caramel, bread, and earth. Alcohol is evident.
T: Toffee and caramel with a candied sweetness that cuts deep. This is very bitter, with notes of grapefruit rind and flesh. The finish is bitter and boozy.
M: Upper medium in body with matching carbonation.
Overall: A good but very aggressive American Barleywine.
