this one surprised me as it is extraordinarily ginger forward, real and spicy and fresh, but it is also at the same time an ipa, hoppy through and through, and not just in the nose. not sure i have seen anything like this before, especially at a nice sessionable alcohol content, what a fun idea, and if they toned it down a bit i could drink a ton of it, but i also appreciate it for being bold too, real cool brew here, my first from these guys. its immediately fresh and zesty on my palate, with huge natural ginger pep and some fruit forward dry hopping that hints at orange and floor cleaner in a good way, like something organic or european that you buy from whole foods. the ginger in the flavor is really spicy and real, bright, and lasting after i swallow it, but so are the hops, this is at least as hoppy as it is gingery, which is cool. some malt here too, maybe english crystal or maris otter in the mix, that bready richness without being objectively sweet, just enough for it to be balanced. hop bitterness lasts at the end with the real ginger, no doubt in my mind this is made with the real root. cool beer, maybe not for everyone, but i appreciate this not being just another flavored ipa, or some lackluster safe summer ginger boat beer crap, bold and purposeful, im into it!
