Tried on tap at GABS 2014. Embarrassingly I didn't read the description and didn't realise "R'n'R" stood for 'Rum and Raisin', so this is just reviewed as a porter.
Pours a coffee colour, quite dark brown throughout. Tan head, decent retention. Looks awesome.
Smells fairly sweet, with chocolate and a touch of sweet coffee. Some caramel as well, touch of roast and a touch of smoke on the back. Some herbal tobacco character as well. Pleasant.
Taste is sweet, with chocolate malts and a touch of piquant coffee midway. Licorice towards the back and a slightly bitter soil note towards the back. Fairly tasty porter. Nothing too innovative but very solid.
Full body with a touch of warming booze. Not bad at all.
Yeah, unpretentious porter. Exactly the sort of beer I expect from these stalwarts of the Oz brewing scene.
