Solid for my first beer at a bar (at the brewery, actually) in over a year. Not much head or lacing, but a nice alfalfa field nose and great mouth feel.

There was once a time when hops equalled bitterness. But with help from breweries like Tin Roof, then flavorful and aromatic beers without excessive bitterness is no longer considered voodoo.
With the help from Citra, Simcoe and Waimea hops, Voodoo Pale Ale gets going with a peppery, citrusy, tropical, melon leading perfume with an earthy twinge of mulch. Once the pale golden ale settles in the glass. Fighting through the dense ivory froth, its first sip is sweeter, creamier and richer with cereal, shortcake and honey.
The growing hop profile brings a fruity taste to the middle palate, sharing grapefruit and orange with a followup of passionfruit, papaya and banana before the taste turns balancing with sprucy, tea and peppery properties. All wrapped in a juicy melon flavor and the flavors are largely complete. But the hops each seem earthy with hemp, peppery peat and wilted herbs.
Dank, fruity and earthy, the pungent pale ale finishes with an even keel bitter sweetness, hedging on the fuller side of malty-dry with an aftertaste of wet hemp, peppery bitterness and over ripened fruit peels.

Pours slightly hazy. White head. Nose was kind of malty. Taste was somewhat of a let down. Feel was dry with a white pepper finish. Second sniff after taste gave of a slight citrus nose. And second taste was also slightly citrusy.

Poured from a freshness dated 12 oz. can: murky, yellow with clumps of solids floating to the bottom. While not the most pleasant pour, we must not judge only by the cover.
Wow! Now, this is quite aromatic with an explosion of fresh, tropical fruits. This more than makes up for this ugly pour.
This could be described as a fruit bomb or fruit fest; either way, it is quite quaffable and refreshing with strong, bitter citrus that is balanced by sweet melons. I don't know if the mellow flavor is the result of the "malted oats" listed on the label, but it is quite pleasing.
Despite the appearance which unfortunately resembles urine from a person with a bladder infection, this is quite good, and I recommend it.

A few years ago, Tin Roof retired Voodoo Bengal, a malty, more traditional pale ale, and split the name, applying Bengal to its new Bayou Bengal lager (Geaux Tigers!), and Voodoo to a completely new Voodoo “American Pale Ale," which is billed as a "hop forward" APA.
I had the new Voodoo APA a couple of years ago at Mike Anderson's Seafood, Gonzalez, La., on draft into (unfortunately frosted) 32-oz. mug, and just now had again, in a more ratable format, poured from 12-oz. can, bottom stamped "PACKAGED ON 06/08/20," into nonic pint.
The new Voodoo APA comes in at either 5.20 (can) or 5.00 (website) ABV and, despite being hazy with oats, wheat and dry-hopping, is a near-sessionable, bone-dry ale, which goes well with char-grilled oysters.
