08/14/19 made sure I got a fresh can for the rerating ($1.67 at Trader Joe's):
Hints of soapiness do hold it back, but I like what I can get of the floral and citrusy notes hiding behind that soapiness. Still, its hop profile is pretty lacklustre for an IPA...its lack of hop pungency & depth of hop flavour leave it tasting more like a pale ale at best.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, light to medium-bodied, somewhat refreshing.
OVERALL: It's pleasant enough drinking it as fresh as possible, but even at its fair price I couldn't recommend buying it by the sixer given the myriad of superior expressions of the oversaturated IPA market. Deschutes Fresh Squeezed, Lagunitas IPA, Ballast Point Sculpin, Bear Republic Racer 5..,most anyone who can get this beer can get at least a couple of those and it has the hop pungency of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (which is also better...).
If they marketed it more accurately as a pale ale, I'd probably go with a B- rating, but...

Deliciously hazy IPA, fruity with a good balance of hops.

On draft at The Joint, in New Orleans. Clear amber appearance. Citrusy and hoppy. Well balanced malt back bone.

Darker gold to light amber. Hazy. Small head but it leaves ring lace after every sip.
Nice malt (pale)/hop (citrusy) blend. Attractive if unremarkable.
The flavor is more hoppy than the smell suggests. The pale malt base is still present but much weaker. The hop is bittering in a black pepper way. Moderate body and carbonation. Lasting aftertaste. Dry flavor throughout.
