who are these guys? and where did this beer come from? strange i have never heard of them, and they are in colorado? is this all they make? very little information available, which is probably okay after tasting this thing. admittedly a bit old, but it pours a hazy light amber color with a ton of bubbles but not accumulating much in the way of head. the nose is sweet and weird, lagering seems incomplete from the outset. the taste has some sweetness in it all in the middle, and it actually dries up well, but its really stale tasting (probably my fault for not drinking this sooner), and it has an odd adjunct middle too, corn or rice, doesnt quite work. a little one dimensional too, but overall its not half as bad as i was expecting it to be, and really tastes better than it smells. i was glad i split the twelve ounce bottle, but im also glad i tried it for what it is. good bubbles, but a little too much residual sugar for the style. maybe i will revisit this again if i find it fresh, maybe not.

Reviewed from tasting notes.
Pours out a pretty standard amber color with two fingers of fairly stable head with medium amounts of lacing in the glass. Light grainy smell and perhaps a smidgeon of toasted bread once allowed to warm up. Flavor mirrors the nose only with more emphasis on toastiness than had been readily apparent. Perky carbonation on a solid medium-full texture....not bad at all, if a bit run-of-the-mill....

12 oz bottle into a pint glass
A: 1 1/2 finger foamy head. Gorgeous amber color. Spotty lace.
S: A little phenolic presence on top of some pale/sweet malts.
T: Grainy, malty. It is really a basic amber lager. A little bit of toastiness. Some strange peripheral elements present themselves making this beer less than complete.
M: Chewy, full. Soft carbonation.
D: Very drinkable (for a "biker beer") but not great. Like Coors Original with more alcohol.

12 oz bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint. 5.5% ABV, 10326 printed on the neck (Nov. 21, 2010).
A - Great clarity in the pint, this amber is a lighter version with a golden hue to it. Moderate carbonation flows up to a dense two-finger, off-white head. Solid retention and great lacing on the glass. This HardTail looks nice.
S - This amber lager might be crisp in the nose, but it sure isn't clean. Husky, grainy straw aroma with pale malts and a light amber malt aroma. No hops apparent, the smell is low and excels at being boring.
T - Hard and husky amber malt flavor with a light mineral finish interwoven into the Vienna malt sweetness. Light earthy notes of hops dry out the finish slightly. It tastes much better than it smells.
M - Crisp and clean despite the medium-ish body of Vienna malt. Lingering sweetness on the finish is held back nicely by dry hops. Good carbonation.
D - Half way through the beer I realized there's a very good possibility that this is just Sprecher's Special Amber re-bottled for HardTail since I picked it up in the Sprecher gift shop. The alcohol is a bit higher, but it's damn close to what I remember. Maybe it's time for a side-by-side. Either way it's decently drinkable and the taste made up for the lack of an aroma.
