32oz grunt filled at the source, chilled in an ice chest up to Spokane, then refrigerated for six days.
Poured into a brewery-correct shaker pint glass, this was pretty much like one would expect: dark brown almost black coloration, with a creamy, dark beige colored head. Modest amount of lace.
Roasted malt aroma. I got bits of coffee, molasses, milk chocolate. As it warmed the sweeter aspects became more dominant.
Taste was pretty much like the aroma. Sweet and roasty malts almost evenly matched at first, but again, the sweetness seems to gain the other hand as it warms. Almost ventures into milk stout land, but there's enough of a bitter, roasty, coffeeish bite to keep that from happening. Slightly mineralish taste well in the background. Finish is very slightly dry.
Medium bodied, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel.
Not a bad stout at all, if a little too sweet for my own preferences (most people like things a little sweeter than I generally do). I'd happily hit this again if in the mood for a stout, While this is called Summa Stout, it wouldn't surprise me to see it in the fall, either, as I THINK WB doesn't do any other stout besides their big Mighty Knight, and not everyone might be wanting their stout to be an imperial one. Another tasty beer from White Bluffs.
