a bit more of a classically styled ipa here than their exquisite nectar of the gods is, but equally well made, just a bit more malt balance in this one. its got a deeper brassy color to it, a similar high white head from the tap, and a radiant freshness that hints of pine and bitter orange peel, less obviously juicy and dry hoppy, more malt character through it, and more bitterness from the hops, very much in the northwest style as far as i can tell from the appearance and the aroma. the flavor here is excellent, less malty than it looks and smells to me, a light breadiness underneath the hops, but this is on the dry side and the body is not so big at all. there is a light biscuity thing too, but it works well to support all the hops and balance some of the dankness and bitterness this is bursting with. grapefruit and spruce, orange and pot, christmas tree and car air freshener, in a good way. some oily character to the feel i notice on the swallow, but nice carbonation and somewhat lighter drinking than it looks or maybe should be at this strength. i have been really impressed with the hoppy beers from these guys so far, and this is another good one, although i think somewhat less dramatic than their nectar of the gods, but i look forward to continuing to explore their lineup!
