On tap for Oktoberfest.
Taps a darker clear copper-amber color with a smallish cap that laces well.
Demure aroma spices, grains light pumpkin muskiness.
Subtle flavor profile both spices and pumpkin not over stated but well balanced/integrated with the amber ale character...Malty body accented with spices and golding hops, mellow herbaceous-eathy middle and clean sharp finish with a spicy-biscuit aftertaste.

The Huether Hotel adjacent to Gold Crown offers a few seasonal offerings made by the brewery, I tried the pumpkin ale the other night.
I asked the waitress how people were feeling about this beer, she (quite honestly) admitted that she'd been hearing mixed things from customers and that it was an acquired taste. She offered a small sample to taste, and I liked it enough to go with a full pint.
Pleasant dark gold/orange colour, with a nice bit of fluffy tan head. The smell was spicy and bready, but not that strong. The taste is, well, exactly like pumpkin pie! Definitely a big taste of spices and pumpkin that lingers on the tongue. A bit of bitterness, but goes down smooth. The taste is so different and, well, pumpkiny, that I wouldn't want to have too many of these. Still, it's a welcome change of pace from the other average-quality beers on tap, and a nice seasonal option for an Oktoberfest-fuelled autumn in Waterloo.
