UPDATE:
I felt it time to re re-rate this boilerplate all malt lager as I have been sipping happily away on it for the past two years. There are three things that have to be stated about this brew which most reviews miss:
(A) the lager is in the Dortmunder Helles style, the lemony-bready snap at the end is the give away. That makes it to my knowledge the only example of this style in the Ontario market...it is also an authentic 170 year old recipe from the original Heuther brewery that once stood where the brew pub is
(B) The brightness of the malt flavor is because this beer is always fresh...bottled every Friday.
(C) It's an all gristed malt beer... For the price this is a far better a lager than any of the weak mouthed extract beers coming from Brick these days.
Poures a clear amber-gold with a 1 finger white cap which does not last too long...modest lace.
Very defined aroma.... a light musty malty sweetness, some cider tones, hop grassiness and some lager yeast sulphiides.
Medium-light bodied.... moderate malt spine. firm mouthfeel.
Grainy/bready up front then this is balanced by a peppery-citrusy-herbal discernment from the hops and bit of cidery tartness from lager yeast sulphides. Finish is clean with light lemony bittering and a decent biscuity snap
A good enough standard all malt helles lager...drinkable....clean and bready but nothing over the top to distinguish it.

Pale yellow with a couple fingers of head that settles to a thick film. Gives up some decent but patchy lace.
Some malt aroma, noticeable grassiness. Doesn't really taste like anything. Some sweetness up front, but watery overall.
Better than macro pap, but nothing to write home about. Unremarkable.

OK beer. Brewery warned me its not pasteurized as they couldn't afford to, so I have kept it cool. Passable with food, little head. This and their whole product
lineup slightly better than national brands. Won't offend anyone but
rather plain and dull.

a mellow golden colour, with minimal head. Smell and taste are of beer, with a certain quality I couldn't quite place that helped them above average. Unfortunately, I think Gold Crown is trying to take on the macros rather than microbreweries. meh.
