A - Body is pale straw yellow. Just a touch of haze. 1 Finger of fine white head. Retention is ok. No lacing.
S - Esters are prominent in the nose. I get lots of peach, pear, and tropical fruit aroma. A hint of breadiness underlies the fruit. I also get just a faint twinge of darker caramely aromas.
T - Sweet and tangy up front. Lots of spicy orange peel and peppery character which is accentuated by the heavy carbonation. The drier, bready malt flavors come in toward the middle. Esters are not as prominent in the flavor profile. Finish is relatively sweet with just a touch of earthy hops.
M - Thin body. Over-the-top carbonation. Finish is pretty clean with just a touch of residual sugars.

"Briar Creek Towhead Ale" contract brewed by Sand Creek.
Into a tulip it pours a murky copper orange, sort of muddy and obviously unfiltered. Two fingers of fluffy white foam appear as the bottle is poured in a single motion. No lacing, but there are some spotty flecks of foam here and there. Skim lasts on the surface for awhile.
Bready, malty aroma, a touch sweet, reminds me of morning visits to the bakery. A mild apple fruitiness appears too as it warms.
Flavor is a bit simple, pale malt with some estery apple notes, maybe banana, wheat, mineral water, cracker-like grain and lightly buttered biscuits. Seems like some euro-influence, could be noble hops or something nuanced, it comes across a bit plain yet drinkable. Body is light and slightly creamy, but with a prickly rush of carbonation. Can't really say i'd recommend it, but decide for yourself. Seems a bit too middle of the road, with little to distinguish itself from other craft beers in the market.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Samuel Adams perfect pint glass. No freshness info.
Appearance: Pours a crystal clear golden color. Lots of carbonation bubbles that lead to an everlasting frothy, white head.
Smell: A nice clean aroma profile. Some fruity esters with bread/biscuit.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Very malt foward with toast, bread, and biscuit notes. Light/meduim mouthfeel with a good carbonation bite. Bitterness seems a little high for the style.
Overall: For the style, this one hits most of the marks staight on. Nothing too exciting, just your average blonde ale. I'd like to see what other offerings Briar Creek can brew up in the future.
