Pours a super effervescent ebony with 2 fingers of mocha colored head. Great head retention & even better lacing
S: Faint roastyness, cocoa & coffee & vanilla
T: Roastyness, dark chocolate, some charred grain notes & dryness & a touch of vanilla up front. Cocoa, faint smokeyness, & some vanilla as this warms, plus roastyness & dryness. Finishes roasty, dry with a little cocoa & vanilla & ever so slight oaky sourness
MF: Medium body, firm carbonation
Pretty easy to drink, pretty tasty, well worth a try

This is listed elsewhere on the site a O'Dempsey's Your Black Heart Imperial Russian Stout. But as this is brewed by Thomas Creek, I'm posting here. As I've founfd with other TC offerings, this is a bit hit or miss. It looks better than it smells or tastes IMHO. Black with coffee with milk colored head, the smell of malt, chocolate, and coffee also has a slightly sour aroma. The taste is heavily malted with burnt coffee, chocolate, and yes, a slight sourness on initial taste. The mouth feel is somewhat smooth, but lingering harness takes that away. Overall I'm not ver impressed but there's no drain pour here

A: Inky black, viscose pour produces a cinnamon, earthy brown thin head of short life. Faint, slow rise of visible carbonation creeps up along the vessel walls.
S: Cigar tobacco, smoky bitterness for aroma, with some dark chocolate mixing in. Marshmellow and sweet chocolate-cocoa on the back end. Nice strength level. Flavor had a earthy bitterness of coffee grounds with a rich dark, chocolate. Some smoked wood and campfire minerality. Rich sweetness of cocoa mingles about with a abv% that was very managable, smooth, from start to finish. Some finale notes of burnt oak and roasted coconut.
M: Smooth bittering mouthful, medium body, buttery texture.
O:Overall a nice level of bitterness that creeps in and increases after the swallow. Abv% is well managed at 8.0% feeling light enough to drink more while still having a big flavor aspect.
