"Humulus Maximus is a blend of our award winning Up the Creek Extreme IPA and our Class 5 IPA. This started with a specially hoped version of UTC and was dry hopped with Sorachi Ace and Chinook hops."
Served from firkin into a shaker at the Thomas Creek Brewery Bash '10. Poured a dark dark reddish brown with a minimal off-white head. There was no lacing evident throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, citrus hops, and bitter hops. The flavor was of sweet malt, bitter malt, citrus hops, and sweet hops. It had a medium feel on the palate with low carbonation. Overall this was a pretty nice blend that Thomas Creek came up with. However, as lots have said before about UTC it just doesn't feel like an IPA though and is a little more barleywine-ish. The blend helps, but still doesn't make up for this fact. This one is worth trying if you are a fan of the two brews blended or want to try something that is quite nice.
