Don't know how long it's been retired but not long enough so that someone could get one and bring it back from SC for me.
A - good burnt orange color, clear with a lot of carbonation. Head was thick and settled into an un appealing lumpy affair.
S - Malt and sugar nothing notable.
T - Pretty unremarkable - doubt it would have been better even if fresh.
M - Full bodied and just viscous enough.
O - Have had better winter warmers. I would would say pass on this but you don't have a choice.

12 oz bottle poured into a nonic pint glass at fridge-cellar temperature.
L – Deep amber color with a nice 3-finger frothy, foamy, rocky, cream-colored head. Excellent retention and fantastic lacing. Clear with lots and lots of bubbles. I’ll tell you, this looks a lot better than I was expecting.
S – Mostly grainy, bready, and toasted malt with some caramel aromas and a hint of holiday spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. There may also be just a hint of earthy, piney hops.
T – The beer leads off with bitter and spicy citrus, pine, herbal, and earthy hops along with a smattering of ginger and cloves. As the bitterness and spiciness fade, a little bit of caramel and toasted malt sweetness comes in. There’s a metallic flavor that’s noticeable throughout the taste, also.
F – Light-to-medium-bodied with good carbonation, a sticky, chewy, and somewhat creamy mouthfeel, and a mildly sweet, mildly bitter, and spicy finish. Some holiday spice flavors linger for a bit.
O – While the look and smell of this beer had me impressed, the taste did not. The progression, layering, and balance of the flavors seemed all wrong for a winter warmer with bitterness and spice taking center stage, while hearty, malty sweetness was nearly left out completely. The unfortunate metallic taste kind of threw things off, as well. Regardless of all of this, it’s certainly not a bad beer and is pretty much what I expected from Piggly Wiggly. It was not bad to try, but I’ll be looking for other winter warmers next time around.
