July 2014. 330 ml bottle, No. 1031, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. BB date was 31.12.2013. ABV 6.9%. Black colour, low tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and black bread, burnt breadcrumbs and dark chocolate, a hint of liquorice. The fairly dry flavour has the same elements as the aroma, with some nutty notes to boot. Not bad.

33 cl. bottle poured into a goblet. Bottle aged 6 months.
Pours a rich dark black with lots of sediment. A full 2 fingers of rich, tan head that lingers for the entire glass. It leaves behind a very beautiful lace.
Very malty nose with caramel, German malts, and cherry. Hints of smoke, coffee, and rust.
The mouth knocked me over with its smokiness - based on the nose, I really wasn't expecting it at all. Smoked malts and smoked sausage interact with a rich coffee ground flavor. Bits of bitter chocolate and German malts round out the flavor.
It takes a little bit to get past the smokiness, but as it sits in the glass the smoke begins to balance out a bit. I would love to pick up a bottle and let it age for a few years.
Up to this point, this is the only German Porter I've tasted or found. It is extremely well made and an excellent example of the style. Bravo once again to BraufactuM!
