One of the best Spanish beers. I do not include the Catalans beers.

Hazy amber colour, big head. Smell of lemon, almonds, saffron, a lot of cinnamon. Creamy palate. Taste of cinnamon, saffron, aldmonds and spices.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle bought in Madrid. The Domus website says this beer was brewed to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the birth of El Greco, the famous Spanish artist.
A - Color is a deep amber with lots of orange. It is clear but not crystal clear. There seems to be a lot of suspended particles in the beer, neither rising nor sinking. The head is beige and initially very active. It sinks to a thin solid layer that is a bit oily-looking.
S - The aroma is centered on the spices. I can't pick out any particular ones, but the overall blend is similar to some Christmas ales I've had. It's slightly sharp and piney, but not like hops. The malt and hops are secondary to the spices. There may be a little sweet malt behind the spice. No obvious hops or yeast character. The overall aromas are clean, even if they are unconventional.
T - The taste is also dominated by spices. Again it seems to be a combination of types with an evergreen/winter theme. The spices lead to a moderate to high bitterness, which then fades to a rounded, sweet malt finish. Very complex.
M - Thick body, bracing bitterness, low alcohol burn. Smooth but obvious carbonation.
O - This is an interesting beer, but it seems a bit too focused on the spices. Personally, I'd like to see the malt brought more to the forefront. Still, while the spices are at the front, they are not at a ludicrous level, and the beer seems fresh, well-made and enjoyable..
