Served at the brewery in a 20 ounce mug.
Finger thick pale white head with a thick, pillow-like quality. Carbonation surges upwards through the pale golden liquid with perfect transparency. 5
The whole brewery smells of malts but so does this. Simple light and faintly sweet malt. Mostly just clean and faintly floral. 4
Tastes of sweet malt, light floral hops, a mineral quality, and light caramel. It's again a clean taste that seems spot on for the style. 4.25
Can I say clean again? It just fits this beer. Lightly sweet, medium-carbonation that tickles the mouth mid-palate and a semi-dry, mildly bitter finish. It's got some body but still drinks light and easy. Excellent. 4.5
Augustiner Helles was the beer that opened my eyes to great beer. I drink it by the gallons in Munich. I wish I could drink it side to side with this for comparison, but I think it's pretty spot on to the style. Well done.
