Big, black, beautiful and now nearly a year in the making. La Negra is a wine barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout brewed with our British Pale Malt and an enormous amount of roasted malts. A 5-hour boil lends a big burnt sugar and raisin character while the intense bitterness gives the beer an incredible dark chocolate finish. Needless to say, the mouthfeel is what one would expect from one of the biggest beers we've ever brewed.

13 ounce tulip pour at the brewery.
Looks like an espresso with a cacao foam atop it. Looks like breakfast. Looks like what I should rock in my coffee mug at work. 5
Oaken aroma makes me think rum, but could also be red wine. Getting hints of both. Brown sugar and dark chocolate. Plums and raisins/dark fruit mix. Even some light coffee. Lots to enjoy here. 4.5
Brown sugar stands out to me. Dark chocolate and a burst of dried cherry and dark stone fruits. Rum or something akin to sherry or port asserts itself near the finish and sneaks in slight nip of alcohol flavor. 4.5
This is drinking lovely right...damn...now. Not the least bit boozy, chewy and full in body, and finishes dry and bitter. Half a year to a year and I predict this will be like silk boxers in your mother's hamper. 4.25
Some may lament La Cumbre's resistance to the usage of Bourbon barrels. I say fuckittho if this is the end result.
