there is so much to like about this delicious variant of their already solid stout. the nitro pour at the taproom is amazing, we rarely see barrel aged stuff in this format, and there is something amazing about the creaminess of the nitro with all the natural coconut in here, its a perfect texture for the flavors happening, really cool idea and awesome execution. the adjuncts are spot on too, some nice baking chocolate bitterness from the nibs accentuates the dark roasted barley in here, and the coconut is sweet, nutty, and natural all at once, sort of baked but also in its purest form, and there is quite a lot of it, its exceptionally balanced with the earthy cocoa. the base stout also retains its identity, which is key with this sort of thing and an often overlooked aspect of a stout spiked with all kinds of goodies. lastly, i love that it has such a modest abv, usually these are huge, and i like that i could have a few of these, especially with the subtle whiskey element and the relative dryness this has for what it is, really artfully restrained and i like that a lot. delicious morning beer, id love to see it with coffee added too. up there with the big door prize as the best beer i had in here. really brilliantly done!
