Notes: Going back to our recipes developed in the shadow of this Western NM monolith, this is nothing like your standard American Pale Ale. No American hops to be found in this gem. Lots of earthy, spicy Kent Goldings and premium English Crystal malts make this beer unique in a sea of ubiquity.

This pours an almost amber-tan in color with great lacing--foam coats the glass and looks wonderful. It’s malty sweet with spicy hops, almost like a hoppy amber brew. Delicious, with a tacky, sticky hop finish and some lingering sweetness. I could go for another.

On tap at La Cumbre, 12 oz. pour $3.25, 2.11.11.

One finger white head, medium dissipation with good head retention and lacing. A few small trails of carbonation rising up the sides of light amber murky/unfiltered body. Nose is bready malts, a bit of caramel sweetness, grassy hops on back end not bitter. Taste features a firm malt backbone, bready toast, grassy, fairly sweet. The use of Maris Otting in the malt bill makes this is a pretty accurate interpretation of the style. Mouthfeel is medium, soft, not a lot of effervescence. I can see this as a very sessionable beer. While the Elevated IPA is this big seller here, IMO this is the house signature beer, very sessionable, real shows off the skills of the brewer. Highly recommended.
