And our Porter , labelled Blacksmiths is in warm appreciation of the coke furnaces which glowed cheerily beside the mighty anvil which was brother to the blacksmith's hammer and the smithy's skill and craftsmanship.

Pours black with a lasting off-white head.
Nose shows caramel, bready malt, milk chocolate and roasted barley.
Flavours are not as impressive. Some roasted barley and sodt chocolate but it's rather plain and seems to be lacking in the mid-palate and finish.
Body feels a little bit thin.

Make sure you let this beer breathe!!!
A: Deep dark colour - cannot see through when held up to light. Moderate head with average retention and good lacing.
S: Horrible if you drink it cold - massive over the top alcohol that really reminds me of a poorly cellered old red wine... If you let it relax a but it will really balance out and give way to a slight bit of chocolate, a nice smokey hint and hefty malt!
T: Creamy balanced vanilla with a touch of sweetness from slight chocolate. Front pallet is sweetness, a very robust nutty mid pallet giving way to a lingering bold malt finish.
M: Fantastic - for me this is the best part of the beer. Perfect carbonation and well balanced.
O: A good example of a porter. Wouldn't try to impress my future farther-in-law with it but a good solid beer. A great 'session' beer for a dark beer that at just 5.5% is manageable.
