truly one of the most bizarre beers ive ever had. its a lacto pitched slightly sour berry brew with peanuts. not peanut butter, like so many porters and stouts out there right now, but something totally new and different. the beer isnt all that good looking, pink in color, real clear, but almost still, hardly a bubble or a head. the nose is tart and a little acidic from the lacto, but its also got the berries real dominant. i cant quite place, but i think its blackberry, not quite as sweet as razz, and there is a real distinct nuttiness as well. the flavor is so odd, it was either going to be lights out amazing or absolutely brutally terrible based on whats in it, and its the former, really impressive specimen. while there is a lot going on here in terms of flavor, the use of peanut and how vibrantly it shows through is what i will always remember from this beer. it tastes just like the little red skin that surrounds the nut inside the shell, and it takes me back to ballgames of my youth. the sourness is just enough to clean up the finish, and the berries give it a bright summery flavor that flirts with sweetness but never gets there all the way. complexity is astonishing, but this beer isnt the least bit sloppy. if it had more carbonation, it would be a medal winner for me. so different and well done. i wish they would package this one because it truly is incredible, absolutely a must try.
